Lies And Deception Affect both Soul & Spirit

“You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies” – John 8:44

    In America, one of the most prominent and pervasive evil spirits at work is the spirit of the antichrist. As Christ is truth, the resurrection and the life, Satan is deceitful and aims to bring about death. Satan being the “father of lies” as the scriptures state is not merely a title capturing his corrupted character; it brings real insight into how the devil operates to keep people in bondage and captivity. What one must know is that evil spirits utilize lies to push an agenda of deceiving as many people as possible. They bring a lie to a person, and that person has the right by their divine will to either accept it or reject it. If they accept the lie, they are directly impacted and made more vulnerable to the devil’s suggestions. This is known as “giving up ground” to evil spirits.

The earliest example of this is the story of Adam and Eve. We do not need to go into excessive detail as we all know the story by now, but what the common reader often glosses over is the spiritual tug of war where Eve slowly allowed herself to become more open to Satan’s influence by taking into consideration that his lie of “being like God” was true. Indeed, even unto this day, we see spiritualism and New Age practices spread a message of how “there is a god in all of us.” Atheism is similar in that while they reject the notion of God’s existence, there is consensus that ultimately man needs no God because he can take care of himself and handle all matters on his own. It is like man is so mighty that he practically is God because all things are under man; all things can be discovered, ruled, and fixed by him. Such is not the case.

Lies are used like bait. They are thrown out and often seem pleasurable to the human eye, but upon consumption it can wreak death unto its consumer. This is how evil spirits work; they come to a person with an idea. Invisible to the eye, they stalk their target and impart an idea into the mind of the recipient. The idea can be that the person is homosexual, a different biological sex, that someone they hate deserves to die by their hand, so on and so forth. The image of a devil on one’s shoulder whispering into their ear is closer to the truth than would seem.

But oftentimes it is much more subtle. For example, it could be that someone of the same sex is attractive in a way that makes them want to explore their sexuality, or that they should attend a worship service of a different religion so the spirit can get them to enjoy the service and consider adopting a false religion. It is the devil’s way of “planting a seed” in the person’s mind. These lies are often used at a young age when the person’s mind is more impressionable and has less knowledge. The possibilities of which lies to use are endless and tailor-made to every person living based on their flesh, personality, weaknesses, and even strengths. It explains why so many extreme beliefs exist in the minds of the people to this day, leading to a division and strife in the country on a scale that we have never seen before. What makes the lies even more potent is that evil spirits frame the lies as coming directly from the person; the person is convinced that the thoughts are from them as opposed to an external source trying to influence them.

That is why we live in the age of Laodicea, the age of deceit where a great delusion has fallen over the masses like a veil, blinding them from seeing the truth because they do not even know that the veil is there in the first place. This is the most effective way to not only remove the lies lodged into the souls of captives, but strengthen them as well. It is vital that everyone who is born again or waiting to be born again in Christ knows how to identify the lies brought to them when the time comes so they can rebuke it and carry on in truth with their soul protected from demonic influence. This post aims to serve as a basis in explaining how evil spirits influence people and serve as a framework with which to analyze further goings-on occurring in the world from a spiritual perspective.
