Spiritual Warfare Defined

The religious demon is both powerful and extremely clever. Nevertheless,  I believe that the revelations of spiritual warfare and deliverance in the book “Faces of the Religious Demon  attest to the greatest irony:  that even though man was created a little lower than the angels, that the triune God has  brought forth a fallen race of sons and daughters  who will obtain complete victory in the invisible war over spiritual entities  that have mighty powers.  In the words of the late Donald Grey Barnhouse:

War has been declared. The great, governing cherub had become the malignant enemy. Our God was neither surprised nor astonished, for, of course, He knew before it happened that it would happen, and He had His perfect plan ready to put into effect. Although the Lord had the power to destroy Satan with a breath, He did not do so. It was as though an edict had been proclaimed in heaven: ‘We shall give this rebellion a thorough trial. We shall permit it to run its full course. The universe shall see what a creature, though he be the highest creature ever to spring from God’s Word, can do apart from Him. We shall watch this experiment, and permit the universe of creatures to watch it, during this brief interlude between eternity passed and eternity future called time. In it, the spirit of independence shall be allowed to expand to the utmost. And the wreck and ruin which shall result will demonstrate to the universe, and forever, that there is no life, no joy, no peace apart from a complete dependence upon the Most High God, Possessor of heaven and earth.”( The Invisible War, 1969) 2

Even though our victory is assured, the Lord’s present day warriors within the remnant church should be prepared to fight in cold blood. (War on the Saints,, pg. 197-198, abridged edition) To fight in cold blood is to always be prepared to fight, both in season and out of season. Faces of the Religious Demon will  sufficiently opened your eyes to the reality that the true Bride of Christ is about to enter her season because  judgment has already begun within the household of faith. Therefore, we need to be able to recognize conflict that exists  within “a cold war.” During a cold war,  on the surface, it appears not to be any conflict.  Nevertheless, we must always be prepared to fight, even when a demonic attack  has diminished. Let’s face the facts.  Demonic onslaught  against the true church of Jesus Christ will not fully cease  until the Lord Himself returns to earth.

I believe that  when the two-edged sword of judgement and punishment actually  falls on the harlot church and her hirelings, the spiritually damaged and captive sheep will have no  place to run but to those of His servants who have kept the faith by righteousness— believers who have not denied His name with idolatry.  Consequently, the Body of Christ is being prepared to be the spiritual hospital for those who have been abused by the traditional organized church. The primary battleground to restore the sheep is  of course within each individual  captive’s mind.  As the mind is renewed by the word of God, the deliverance worker or counselor or remnant “pastor” must also teach the sheep who have been damaged how to cast down imaginations and every high thought that would exalt itself above the knowledge of Christ, and to bring each thought into the captivity of the obedience of The Lord Jesus Christ. (II Corinthians 10:4,5)

This is what we do in Christian coaching at Pam Sheppard Ministries. Our approach is  “Deliverance Mentoring” through the SEW Program.  SEW stands for Spiritual Empowerment Workshop.
