Becoming Deception Proof: Doubt and Question!

26 Jun

Just because a person is born again does not make them “deception proof.”

Pam Sheppard, Author and Pastor

The Lord would not have warned His disciples to “take heed and be not deceived” if there was no danger that they could be deceived. It does not matter how many things you are or were deceived about. For 25 years, I was deceived about a few things in comparison to what other churchgoers were deceived about. Yet the Holy Spirit did not release me from the deception until He was ready to. He simply stepped in when He chose the time to be right and started unravelling things.  Why?  Because I began to both doubt and question religious teachings and practices.

What I continue to  remain cautious about is this. Just because I am undeceived NOW, does not mean that it is impossible for me to be deceived again. For me to think otherwise would be both pride and arrogance and I do not want God to resist me.

So what is deception?

Deception has to do with thoughts in the mind. Simply put, we believe a lie or a half truth. The worst of it is the assumptions. or if you start off with even one little wrong assumption, everything else falls like dominos.
Recently , I watched how a person can start out with truth and how the enemy can use the very truth they have received and lead them into a lie. What happens is that the enemy takes advantage of our misconception of truth. He also uses the weaknesses of our personalities to lead us into believing what suits us best.

This realization has humbled  me quite a bit. I believe that once we are given truth, we have to seek God in prayer to help us not to misunderstand truth, for our conception of truth may cause us to be deceived.

So my question is “how do we make ourselves fool-proofed to deception?”

I think we can all answer this from experience. just examined how we got deceived, what was it about us that caused us to be open to the deception, and how did we come out of it?

I was deceived because of my lack of knowledge of how the enemy works and how God works. I also had no knowledge of church history. My assumptions were off. For, example, I thought everything supernatural was from God. I also looked to mega preachers for answers, ignorant of the fact that those who I sought for answers were deceived themselves.

I did not become undeceived until I began to doubt and question religious beliefs and practices. People think that doubting is like wavering.  Wavering is being tossed to and fro, filled with confusion. Doubting on the other hand is what is necessary to reach the truth. In other words,   it’s our capacity to doubt and question that makes us free.

When I was in the institutional church, I did not doubt.  I was very sure of key  things that were wrong.  For example, I never doubted slain in the spirit.   Without doubt, then you will make assumptions. So I assumed that slain in the spirit was a good thing and I lusted after it.  Once I got it, then doubt set in.

Doubt caused me to ask questions. For example, I asked myself while a pastor, ‘Why is it that the people who are constantly slain in the spirit around me cannot stand solid in Christ?” was my first bit of doubting.  In short, I ASKED MYSELF AN IMPORTANT QUESTION. My doubt began because they were constantly falling in their spiritual walk.  So this situation caused me to begin to doubt the slain in the spirit practice.  Also “War on the Saints” Caused me to start doubting.  IT WAS A GOOD THING.

Once I began to doubt and question, the Holy Spirit began to pour rivers of  revelation upon me about many things.  As He undeceived me, I began to write..

The result is 7 published books.

“How Does The Holy Spirit Work?” by Pam Sheppard

17 Jul

“The only honest answer after 37 years being led by Him is to say “I do not know.”

All I can say is that he is just like how The Lord described Him. He is like the wind. You can’t really see the wind, but you see it’s effects. He is neither wild, boastful or drunk as He is displayed by charismatics. His main purpose is to exalt Christ and to conform us into the Lord’s image. He does that first by causing us to be born again. The Spirit uses a uniquely personal approach, first of all by reproving and convicting us—causing us to repent by making the cross real and personal in our lives, dropping faith into us to believe on the Lord’s resurrection. Every testimony of rebirth is different but all of the elements of His work are the same. If they are not ALL there, then the person needs to consider that he or she had a false conversion.

Once we are born again, He then teaches and guides us in ways that when we look up, we realize He was there by what he has left behind. For example, He speaks through me yet I am completely unaware of it. I noticed His work with two RESCUE members in phone sessions yesterday. With one member, I made a post, not even knowing how he would be affected. With another, I read some material a month ago that provided answers as to why she is not yet completely free in spite of all demons being cast out. How did I know what to say? How did I recall out of my memory information that I have never written about or discussed before? How was I able to ask this person questions that brought forth the information that coincided with something I read that applies to her situation?

My answer is “I don’t know. Must have been the Holy Ghost.”

Those who would suggest to you that He is an “IT” —an energy force that causes them to babble, have chills, get their teeth filled, sprinkle gold dust all over the place, fall out in a drunken, spiritual stupor, at their beck and call to do whatever they want, are in some deep trouble. Why? Because they are allowing the devil to use them to mock the Holy Ghost. Besides blasphemy, mocking Him is the worst thing in the world anybody could do.”

Setting Captives Free

Setting Captives Free

In the beginning of my work in deliverance counseling in 2002 , I was  shocked and horrified at the manifestations that emanated from professing Christians. To hear even tongue talkers be used by demons to roar, growl and shout blasphemies that include 4
letter words is so astounding, that it can be rather “disconcerting” to say the least.  What I have found is that religious demons are now dwelling in the human spirit of professing Christians, the place which is intended for the Holy Ghost. I have also learned   that these demons must be cast out first, before the Holy Ghost will enter.

This is a formidable task because religiosity has become “a high
tower” in the lives of the lost who insist that they are saved. This high tower must be pulled down by truth, brick by brick. Simply put ,to reach a churchgoer
who believes that he is saved because he repeated a
sinner’s prayer and accepted Jesus “into his heart” is like trying to put a camel through the eye of a needle. But as the Lord declared,”what is impossible for men is possible with God.”

I marvel at what the Lord is doing. Compelling case studies are presented in “Faces of the Religious Demon.”

Grieved and quenched, it has been my experience that the Holy Ghost will not move either the called or the chosen by the “free will” method because the gospel has not been properly preached. Since faith comes by hearing the gospel, we need to understand “what the gospel is.” The gospel is plain and simple yet very rarely heard in what is commonly known as “a sermon.” In fact, most sermons heard in churches today are “not the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

They may be interesting, inspiring, enthusiastic, joyous, dramatic, charismatic and even
life changing relative to coping with the natural challenges and circumstances of life. Yet, unless the gospel of the kingdom is preached in every sermon, the Holy Ghost will not draw anyone to the cross and without the cross, no one will be saved. You may cry, shout, jump up and even fall on your face yet without the complete truth, there will be
no   fruit that leads to eternal life.

Here is the dilemma. If you believe that you are saved but you have had a false conversion, you will not be delivered.  Deliverance is based upon truth. As Jesus said, when we know and accept the truth, the truth will MAKE us free. The acceptance of truth will cause fallen angels to walk away from you and cause demons to come out of their hiding place within your soul. Captives will be set free and deliverance  will be made EASY!

Renewing of the Mind

RENEWING OF THE MIND

Paul wrote to the Romans, “be not conformed to THIS world but be transformed by the renewing of the mind so that you can prove the perfect will of God for your life.” He also warned the Corinthians about casting down imaginations and thoughts  that could exalt themselves ABOVE the knowledge of God. Paul implied that  all thoughts could be “captured” and brought into obedience to the will of God. We know the general will of God from His word.  However, it is the Holy Ghost Who provides the direction of our individual lives   once our minds have been renewed.

Therefore, a renewed mind precedes knowing what God’s will for US is.

So I suggest to you that discovering the will of God for your life involves a renewal. There are some key points that I would like to underscore:

  • We are what we THINK we are. Our thoughts have power to draw both evil and godly energy.  If we have practiced negative self talk, in the same manner, we should consciously practice godly self talk.  Godly thought will bring about godly talk. Godly talk will bring forth the fruits of victory in casting down evil thoughts.
  • A part of renewing the soul is to learn how to deal with what is uncomfortable. Walking on the sands of  a beautiful  beach on a hot sunny day has its comforts and delights.  However,if  the sand is very “hot,”  it is difficult to walk on it.  Struggles and failures supply the necessary preparation to learn how to “walk on hot sand.”.
  • Where deliverance from demonic oppression is concerned, torment can be a blessing.  Torment wipes out the delusion that “all is well” and knocks off the rose-colored glasses. The tormented one is pressured to search for answers and solutions–something that he would not have even considered if he had not desperately sought release from the torment.
  • Anyone who makes decisions either by the influence of an unrenewed mind or emotions is usually weak in his or her will. The will is the organ that examines, distinguishes, judges and makes decisions based upon the information received from the mind and the emotions.
  • Choices can often be long-lasting and unchangeable. We can make the choice but we cannot choose the outcome or the repercussion. In other words, we can choose to sin but we cannot choose the wages of that sin.
  • One of the fallacies is that we assume that we have time to change.  When physical death appears to be “far off,” our will power tends to procrastinate and take chances.  However, when death is a daily reality, we learn to live and make choices that prolong our days.

Once we discover what we need to learn about our own inner struggles, there are other people who will need our testimony and our influence so that that too can be victorious.  A major purpose of struggling is that we can become consolers of those who are struggling in those areas where we have become triumphant.  By planting new seeds of power into our minds, old patterns and habits will be destroyed by the resurrection power of the Holy Ghost.  In a symbolic  context, the seeds are as Jesus said. They are the words of  fruitbearing power.

There is a trained minister with a testimony of “How I Walked on Hot Sand,” waiting to mentor YOU

At Sheppard’s Counseling Center, ministers are trained in a unique deliverance mentoring  program called SEW, Spiritual Empowerment Workshop. The principles of the SEW Program are presented in the book “Recovery In Christ.”  These are ministers who have overcome torment, walked on hot sand, and survived.  From domestic violence, to rape, to incest, to alcoholism,  to parents and grandparents who were practicing witchcraft, these men and women are overcomers. They have a testimony that you need. Are You Hearing From God or the Devil About Your Ministry? Part 3

Are You Hearing From God or from the Devil About Your Ministry?

At times, God WILL confirm.  When he does, it will not be an assumption. IT WILL BE FACT AND TRUTH THAT SETS YOU FREE.

Take it from one who knows. Most confirmation comes from the devil.

Here is a personal experience.

The devil set me up early to falsely assume that I could not have a ministry without being under the spiritual covering of a husband.

Here is how the enemy got started on this false assumption, about a year BEFORE the Lord called me into ministry.  I  have used this real life example before, but it bares repeating because it clarifies my point.  In 1979, I had a dream that I saw a
minister standing on my church’s steps, with a robe across his arm.   He looked at me and said, “Girl, I’m gonna marry You!” In the dream, he was wearing a navy blue suit purchased from Sears and a pair of navy blue swede shoes.

Two weeks later, on a Sunday morning, “a force” was trying to stop me from going to
church.  I “assumed” it was the devil. So I persevered and went out of the door,
walking to church.  Looking back today, I realize that it was God who tried to
stop me from going, or at least an angel sent from God.

When I arrived, the new visiting pastor was at the church, robed and wearing a navy blue suit and blue swede shoes.  I was sitting in the congregation and he set his eyes on
me from the pulpit chair.  Later that evening, my pastor called, claiming that the visiting pastor wanted to meet me.  When we met he said “Girl, I’m gonna marry you cause you sooooo pretty!” I asked, where did you buy your suit?  He said “Sears and Roebuck.”

Plenty of confirmation here!.

Without the dream and all of this “confirmation”, I would  never have given this man a second glance.  He was simply not my type.  So because of all of this “confirmation,”  I assumed “this must be God.”  To make a long story short, it was not God.  This minister was one of the worst men to ever enter into my life.  He was a Satanic setup for things that could have literally “taken me down and out!.”

So when you have circumstances occur that are similar, with all kinds of confirmation, a try the spirits tip is this—- ,

Run like a bat let out of hell.  It’s the devil.

The excuses that we make to explain why we find ourselves under demonic attack are another form of an assumption.  My meaning is better explained by illustration.  I founded a church with a name that I discovered more than a decade later, was given to me by a religious demon.  My kind of vanity was that I “assumed” that because the Denomination I was ordained in was defiled, that my ministry was clean.  You need to know that just because your opposition may be wrong, that doesn’t make you RIGHT!!! I was unaware of this truth,   so I “assumed”  that the church that I founded was superior to any of the churches in the Denomination.

So when my church and I came under a persistent attach from all sides, I assumed, “we must be doing great things and the devil is angry.”  So the attack caused someone with a personality type like mine to brace myself and hold on to my church and ministry with an even stronger grip.  Little did I know that “this was the motive for the attack—that I would hold on to what God wanted me to let go of, as long as I assumed that I was doing God a service.

Usually when demons bombard you with frequent attacks, they are already in control.  They simply want you to assume that you have a fighting chance.  According to Jessie Penn Lewis, “They attack a person because they are in possession, but make him think and believe it to be an indirect attack, ie. through another person.  The blame is placed on the man himself or someone else, or on anything but the true cause, so that the intruder may not be discovered and expelled.  It is therefore important that all ‘excuses’ should be examined, i.e., the ‘reasons’ for such and such an unexplainable
manifestation. Here the words of Jessie-Penn Lewis, the woman of God of the 19th, the 20th and the 21 centuries:

The causes should always be gone into, for by believing a wrong interpretation of the manifestation, more ground is given to the lying spirits.  The believer may be refusing ground on the one hand, and giving new ground on the other, unless he examines all the suggestions which come to his mind concerning his condition.” (War on the Saints, pg. 176)

This is what the enemy is looking for when he takes advantage of the assumptions we make.  He is looking for “new ground” to continue to deceive and control us. Those who are most vulnerable are those who love their ministry more than they love Jesus Himself.  Anyone who has a ministry should not assume that it was God who gave it to you.  So go back to what was going on in your life when you assumed that God called you into ministry.

Since I have “been there and done that,” it is easy for me to recognize those who are themselves possessed  by a ministry that they assume  God gave to them.  I can recognize an obsessed worker, one who is consumed with either revival, deliverance, setting captives free, healing, even saving souls, which no one does but God

Those who are obsessed by “their” ministries are blind to their condition.  Certainly, helping others, giving of your time, teaching and  preaching,  and un-deceiving the deceived are all rightful things.  Nevertheless, very often, the enemy uses ministry as a distraction to the worker’s own need of deliverance from the enemy’s deception.

If you put yourself into the hands of workers like these, you will be subject to both their confusion and their contradictions.  Such workers will seem strong, yet they are weak, loving but they are really stoical and distant.  Why?  Because they are  un-trusting and  afraid of every dark shadow.  Remember.  The
Lord’s yoke is easy and His burden is light.

Anytime you assume that God can’t do His work without YOU, you are in the devil’s hands.

To better “know your enemy,” SEW deliverance training may be for YOU. Call 518-477-5759.

In “Come Out of Her, God’s People,”  I share my personal  testimony of how I overcame a “religious set-up” and all of the various deceptions and obstacles the enemy put in my way to keep me from my true ministry , which is that of an end time prophet in the anointing of John the Baptist.

Are You Hearing From God or the Devil About the Gifts of the Spirit? Part 2

13 Nov

ARE YOU HEARING FROM GOD OR THE DEVIL ABOUT  THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT?

The enemy really designs his deception based upon his knowledge of us.  The secret desires of our hearts  and our assumptions provide religious demons with  both the blueprint and the building blocks of the grand deception that fuels  the enemy’s overall  plan.  The plan begins as a kind of conspiracy theory which answers the questions , “what makes him or her tick? And if I do THIS,  then will he or she do THAT?”  What the religious demon has to do is to find a way to “guide our steps.”  There is no greater thrill than for a religious demon to manipulate and control a child of God and cause that person to become both his prey and his captive.

Point number one in trying the spirits is this: When you go wrong in your assumptions, you have given place to the devil.

What is an assumption?

An assumption is taking for granted that a particular supposition, fact or circumstance is true. It is prematurely accepting as truth, what is merely a hypothesis or a guess.   For example, when I reflect upon my very first assumption as a Christian, I “assumed” that because I had power in my hands to heal, that:

1.  the healing power was from God;

2.  that God was calling me to minister healing.

It took about 25 years for me to find out that “the healing power that I had was NOT from God.”  So logically speaking, if the power was not from God, and if it was not from ME, then it must have come from the enemy.  If the power came from the enemy, then what was his agenda in giving me the power?

When I “tried the spirits” on this matter, I realized that I had first manifested healing power while I was a new age occultist.  When I became a Christian and I saw in the bible that Jesus is a Healer, I just “assumed” that since I was now “born again,” I could simply transition occult healing into my Christian work for God.   WRONG!!!  Along this same train of thought, we “assume” that because what we are doing is similar to what the early apostles did, that we are doing “the same thing.”  It ain’t necessarily so.

With every Christian, the enemy assigned to you is going to “set you up” to be disappointed in God, so that eventually, you will be so frustrated with failure, that you will throw your spiritual hands up in the air and declare, “I’m done with this.”  This was the intent of the healing power I operated in.  The religious devil’s  motive was to frustrate me when those I laid hands on did not “keep” their healing.  This works also in the opposite direction.  If the sick keeps the healing, then “the healer” will assume that he is operating off of divine power, when he is not.
Consequently, the devil remains in control and can exercise authority in the healer’s life whenever he sees fit.

Assumptions are constantly made by Christians who believe that  “the 3 witnesses rule”  is an indication that a sign, wonder, message or circumstance is  “a confirmation” from God.Confirmation!  It’s a twelve letter dirty word that covers a wide field of consideration! In fact,  Satan and his crew get many chuckles out of this one.

There are so many varieties of “confirmations” that it is hard to present one representative example, so I’ll have to  make one up.  You had a dream that you should move to Georgia. Or perhaps someone from your church prophesied over you—“God has called you to minister in Georgia.”   The same day, you heard Ray Charles sing, “Georgia on my mind.”  Then  someone called you on the telephone from Georgia, but it was a wrong number. In the afternoon, a friend stopped by and gave you some peaches.  Georgia peaches.

“So there it is” you say to yourself.  I got 3 signs or witnesses that provide “confirmation” to my dream or prophetic word.  God wants me to move to Georgia. I give this foolish example to make a point of how un-wise Christian “confirmation” really is. Yet  foolish believers  constantly depend upon “confirmation.”

Getting back to the subject of the Gifts of the Spirit, counterfeit healing and miracles shall be rampant in the end times. I believe that I have the gift of healing and the gift of miracles.  However, it is not for right  NOW.  It is for the end, just before the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth returns to earth to rule ALL nations. The elect of God will go through the tribulation and therefore we will need all of God’s supernatural gifts like no other generation has ever  needed them.  The devil knew that about me before I knew it and so he tried to co-opt me with his fake healing counterfeit. With 30 years of ministry under my belt, I know how to WAIT!

To know more about end times, you need “the New Idolatry.”

Are You Hearing From God or the Devil About Your Prince Charming? Part 1

13 Nov

Hearing From God about Your Prince Charming?

To know if you are hearing from God, the first thing you need to know is that you will hear more from the devil in audible voices than you will hear from God.  Certainly the Holy Spirit will at times speak in an audible voice. However, when He begins to teach you how to walk by faith, He will do so by not giving you “confirmation.” The”confirmation” thing is nothing but an assumption, not based on fact, not based on truth. When God sends a message, He does not have to confirm it. He may, or He may not. Here is an instance in my life where God supernaturally “showed and proved.”

I had recently divorced my last husband because his drug addiction became unbearable.  However, I still loved him very much so I was vulnerable to him  if he attempted to reconcile. I thought, “since he had not cheated on me since we were married, perhaps I should not have divorced him.”

One morning, I dreamt I saw a mudslide.  My husband jumped into it.  When he got up, a woman was hidden underneath him—in the mud.

As I lay there, considering the meaning of the dream, the phone rang.  It was my ex.  He wanted to reconcile.  I listened but I was quiet, remembering the dream I had just 5 minutes before the call.

I got up out of my bed, and walked into a room that had once been his den.  Laying in the middle of the floor, in a room that I had cleaned several times was an application for credit, made out by my ex.  What I noticed was that he used a different address and phone number on the application.  So I dialed the number. A woman answered.  I asked “Can I speak to Rich?”  She replied, “He is not here right now.  Who is this?”  I said “his wife..”

The woman went berserk.  She screamed “you are not his wife.  You have divorced him.  I have been his woman for the last 3 years.  So you need to go about your business and leave him alone because Rich is MINE!!!”

So when I try the spirits, this was rather supernatural, to say the least..  It all occurred within the space of 20 minutes. Something appeared on my floor that was not there for two months!!!!  I dreamed about the hidden woman, “under the mud” of my ex’s secret life 5 minutes before his call.

Was this the devil trying to get me to go over there and shoot somebody and end up in jail? For I also had her address.

Not THIS time! lol.

Both God and the devil know that I am too wise and too much in control of my emotions to fall for THAT one. The Lord simply provided me with the hidden information that I needed to stop punishing myself for divorcing an adulterer and for NOT TAKING HIM BACK!!!!  I had every right to divorce him.

There is a book that you NEED to have.  It is called “War on the Saints” by Jessie Penn-Lewis.  Jessie is a woman of God who died in 1915.  However, her knowledge of spiritual deception is unmatched in a century.

Here is a free download of “War on the Saints”. It is a kind of a book that you need at your finger tips so I recommend you obtain a softcopy, 9th edition, un-abridged.

My book “Faces of the Religious Demon is dedicated to Jessie Penn Lewis.” I would not have understood many things without “War on the Saints.” Also, there is much emphasis on how the enemy uses demonic soul ties to entrap and ensnare both men and women.

A Former Pastor Warns: Leave the Church Part 2

10 Nov

When I left the church in 2004, I did not know that it was a permanent move.  I expected that the Lord would lead me to another church affiliation.  I had my eye on Rev. Paul Morton’s organization, the full gospel Baptist.  It seemed a great choice for me because I had been  ordained and served in a denominational church  very compatible with  the Baptists, yet I was also a Pentecostal in orientation, belief and practice.

So when 3 years passed and I did not have a leading to join another church, I wondered why. It didn’t take long for me to be answered once I sought the Lord in prayer.  In less than a week, a kind of telepathic communication took place to let me know that I was not to join any organized church.

I was spoken to in a kind of parable.  I was asked, “Pam, would you put curtains up at the windows of a condemned building.” I thought of all of the condemned buildings I had seen growing up in the inner city.  I answered in my mind. “No, I would not.”

Then came a kind of speech that went something like this.

“A homeless person will make a home in a condemned building.  To escape the elements of the weather on the outside, he will satisfy himself and “make do” with no heat, no running water, no lights, and he will share his dwelling with its occupants: the rats and the roaches.”

Then I was hit in the face with the next outrageous statement.

“If you try to edify the organized church with seminars and conferences, you will be putting up curtains at the windows of a condemned building.”

Wow.  I was stunned. I had already begun to conduct deliverance seminars with the first one in Bermuda and the second one in Lawrenceville Ga. I was planning the third when this spiritual conversation transpired.    Metaphorically speaking, it was clear to me that the condemned building was a symbol of the entire organized church.  It this “strange conversation” was from the Holy Spirit—then the metaphor clearly suggested that the organized church is condemned, in other words, judged already.

In keeping with this parable of sorts, sheep who attend church regularly are those who are afraid of the outside elements of a dangerous and sinful world—and rightly so. Therefore, it makes sense to run inside of church walls for protection.  Yet in keeping with the symbols, when churchgoers run inside, what they find is no light.  God is light.  In Him there is no darkness at all.  No light–No “God!!!  The “voice” went on to say that the rats were the pastors and church leaders and the roaches were those who sat on the pews.

No running water in the condemned building means no rivers of living water, No Holy Spirit.  No heat.  No fires of the Holy Spirit. This parable was clearly saying that the Holy Spirit has left the organized church.

I didn’t want to believe that I had heard from God about this.  I was pastoring a church that I myself had founded in 1996 and I did not want to close it down.  However, I knew that if this was God speaking to me, I MUST close it down.

I tried the spirits for one year by studying church history.  What I discovered has been  written in a book called “the Fake Jesus: Fallen Angels Among Us.”  When I wrote the last chapter, I knew without a doubt that I had heard from the Lord.
