Delay In Coming

6 Nov

“Come let us make gods that shall go before us. As for Jesus, the Son of God who delivered us from sin and death, we do not know what has become of Him…” the words that echo in the heart of an “evil servant.” Yet, similar words were spoken of thousands of years ago by the children of Israel in regards to their leader…Moses.

The People of Israel

The people of Israel and the lesson of the golden calf is one that God’s people forget to learn from. Let’s break it down:

Moses returned to Egypt after a 40 year exile, with the ministry of LET MY PEOPLE GO and COME OUT, SEPARATE! The Lord demonstrated the most miraculous powers upon Pharaoh’s evil oppressive society, split the sea completely in half while raising the waters up for the people of God to pass through, symbolizing their separation from Egypt. They were under the cloud, then received of the healed waters and manna from heaven, and finally reached Mount Sinai where they received of the Ten Commandments, the scriptures reveal,

“So Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, ‘All the words which the LORD has said we will do.'”

And then,

“Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the LORD has made with you according to all these words.'”

Moses was then instructed by God to leave the camp, and go up to the mountain to get the commandments that would be prepared for him on tablet stone, inscribed by the finger of God. Moses was not given a time as to when he would return, but the people knew that he left and eventually would come back with the stone tablets, a testimony of the commandments that they all agreed to.

Similarities to Jesus

Let’s just see the contrasting similarities to Jesus in this instance the scriptures show us:

Jesus, who is God, the Word made flesh established a New Covenant by His blood through His willing sacrifice He made at the Cross. And with His Resurrection from the dead, He delivered us from the grip of death that was placed upon our bodies and spirits by His gift of faith. He left, but gave us a promise that one Day He would return to complete our final deliverance, and that is the receiving of glorified bodies, immortal and alive forever serving Him as kings and priests in His Millennium Kingdom.

Just as the children of Israel passed through the miraculous waters, so too does every Christian, we are all baptized in water which declares to the world and the Devil, we are dead to sin by the power of the Cross (that being while we are under the water), but alive to God through the Resurrection power of Jesus Christ of Nazareth (that being when we rise above the waters and reach the air).

Just as Moses left and would come back at a time no one was sure of, so too with Jesus. We only know the season, the era, the leading moments, the year, month and even weeks, just not the day or hour.

The Mind Of An Evil Servant

“Now, when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, ‘Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as this Moses, the man who brought us up out of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.'”

Look what Jesus said about the evil servant,

“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. But, if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

The Apostle Peter warned of the rise of evil servants in the end times,

“Knowing this first: that scoffers (or “mockers”) will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.'”

I want you to pay attention to one word here, delayed. What should be coming to your mind about the evil servant is not that they openly deny the Return of Jesus, no, they believe in it. But, in their heart they feel there is a delay—as if, the Lord’s return will not happen “at this time” but another time.

They, just as the Apostle Peter revealed, “see things continue on as they have been.” So, they assume that it will happen in another generation.

Mind Ye The Return

Therefore brethren, mind ye the return of the Lord and learn the lesson of the ancient Israelites. One of their main issues was simply 1) How easily entangled and distracted they became with sin and carnal needs and 2) Because of the former, they would forget all the wonderful things the Lord had done for them, and all the beautiful promises He had for them in the future.

That’s why we see Satan, sending forth his wicked hosts in heavenly places to lure us away with sin and pleasure, with the past and family, with condemnation and guilt, with worldliness and comfort, with fear and confusion, with sadness, with pettiness, with division and all negative emotions so that we forget the Lord who delivered us out of our personal “Egypt” and is bringing us to a Kingdom of “milk and honey.”

How often do we, like the ancient Israelites forget the Lord is coming soon? Just like they forgot about Moses coming back from the mountain….

The Lust of the Eyes

3 Nov

The human eyes have been targeted by Satan from the beginning:

“Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.”

Creation of the Eyes

The eyes were created by God to absorb and filter all of His glory to our mind, and despite Adam and Eve having perfect vision they 1) did not see they were naked and 2) did not see the tree of evil as something pleasant.

It’s evident from the experience in the garden that Satan had the ability to manipulate Eve’s perception. Of course, this deception targeted her mind, yet the eyes and mind are deeply interconnected. We see that Eve saw the tree not just as something good for food, (after just repeating the commandment about not eating it to Satan) but also as “pleasant” to the eyes.

How did she go from upholding the commandment—to seeing sin as pleasant to the eyes?

“Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die (a partial truth). For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened (true), and you will be like God, knowing good and evil (partially true).””

Most of what Satan said to Eve was “true.” Even though Eve’s spirit died, and her body became mortal, her and Adam still lived after the fall. And, her eyes being opened was truth, as they were opened to her seeing herself naked and seeing good and evil. And, that she would be as God, more like Him, since God knows good and evil—now that she has sinned, she knows good (her life that was once in the garden with the Lord), and evil (sin, death and Satan). Look what the Lord said,

“Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil.”

Satan Can Be A Half-Truth Teller

While we often think Satan as a liar, and indeed he is, but he can speak truth from an evil point of view to deceive us.

So, back to my question how did she see the tree of evil as pleasant?

She believed Satan’s words to be completely true.

Even if Eve had simply interjected again with the simple truth that God commanded her not to eat it, she would have never saw it as pleasant, but saw it as forbidden. She believed what the Devil was telling her, and it caused her perception of the tree to change.

With this being said, we see how Satan targets our minds to see what is forbidden as pleasant. This is called, “the lust of the eyes.”

““For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.””

We see that one of the three pillars that dominates the world is “the lust of the eyes.” It’s no doubt, we have all seen the forbidden as pleasant, even after being born again and maintaining the effort to crucify our flesh, the lust of the eyes are enticed with all the stimulation the world flashes before them.

Yet the solution for overcoming the lust of the eyes is simple. There is a remedy to overcome seeing the forbidden as pleasant.

Pluck It Out

““And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.”

Of course the Lord is not literally telling us to pluck out our eye. What He is saying is if your eye draws you into sin, then stop allowing your eyes to observe sinful stimulus. Don’t look—in other words. This is a practical solution. But remember, you don’t have much time. The human conscience speaks briefly. If you look too long, you’ll end up in the wrong…

“My eyes are ever toward the LORD,

For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.”

King David knew the struggle of the eyes. His eyes drew him into major sin. Hence why he writes a lot about the eyes in the Psalms,

“For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in Your truth.

I have not sat with idolatrous mortals,

Nor will I go in with hypocrites,”

“Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to covetousness. Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way,”

“Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens.”

I’m sure David taught his son Solomon similar things based off what is written in the Proverbs:

“Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.”

All it takes is a matter of seconds for our eyes to shift focus onto something ungodly. Yet, remember from the garden—is that Eve believed Satan’s half truths and that caused visual perception to change. And this is what we need to examine:

Do we believe any half truths of Satan that cause us to see evil as desirable?

Sinful Eyes

If the world never had the lust of the eyes that means the world would see forbidden as forbidden, darkness as darkness, sin as sin.

Yet, the world sees sex as desirable because they believe the lie that the orgasm is the ultimate ecstasy that must be experienced by any means. Satan is saying to people, “Experience the orgasm for it will make you feel like a god.”

The world sees body image as desirable because they believe the lie that if the body looks “perfect” it is immortal, powerful, seductive, and gives them social acceptance.

The world sees wealth as desirable because they believe the lie that there is no hereafter, and being rich in this life is the only means of joy.

The world sees the occult as “light” because they believe the lie that it’s spiritually beneficial for them.

If our eyes are continually watching and absorbed in sin, or wanting to look at sin, then our minds are contaminated, and eventually our hearts—for this is what Jesus revealed, if a man looks at a woman with lust he has committed adultery with her in his heart.

Protecting your eyes, is protecting your mind, heart and spirit.

Take Back Your Eyes

It’s time to take back your eyes to be focused on seeing the return of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Check yourself, if you are often drawn away into the lust of the eyes it means you are believing in a lie from Satan. Remember the simple truth revealed from the Apostle John,

““For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.””

All the fleshly lust, all that lust your eyes want to look at, that worldly life you see around you, IS NOT FROM GOD! So, whatever lust you are dealing with IS NOT FROM GOD.

So, pluck, remove, cut off, and eliminate any and every feeling and thing that is NOT FROM GOD!

Let this be the prayer for your mind as it was for the ancient Ephesians:

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling,”

The eyes of your understanding or “the force and function behind your eyes” need illumination from the Holy Ghost so you can see darkness as darkness, forbidden as forbidden, ungodly as ungodly.

The more we obey, the more we watch for the return of the Lord, the less ensnared we will be with the vain, foolish, immoral, dumb sinful waste of time things of the Devil!
